TRANSPOSE: Turning Ideas Around

Cecilie Manz’ creative brilliance takes center stage in her first solo exhibition in Japan, titled ‘TRANSPOSE: Turning Ideas Around’.

This Exhibition, brought to fruition with the support of journalist Hisashi Ikai, asked what accounts for the finely-honed sensations of her work and offered a captivating glimpse to her creative practice.

It was a narrative of creative exploration, an odyssey of turning ideas around, and an exhibition that not only showcased Manz’ prowess but also invited visitors to contemplate the nuances of design in a broader context.

The exhibition, a tapestry of her vision and ideas, featured a total of 200 objects, offering visitors an immersive experience into the intricate world of Cecilie Manz’ design philosophy.

As attendees wandered through the exhibition space, they were enveloped in scenes from Manz’ daily life and her cherished memories of Arita, where her ceramicist parents had introduced her to the art world during her formative years. The curated collection included many of her representative pieces, providing insights into the evolution of her design language and the stories woven into each creation.

In the next chapter, we will explore further about her first solo exhibition held in Japan in 2023.

Announcement

This year Maruni will return to Salone Internazionale del Mobile to present Maruni Collection 2024.
The release will focus on items for living spaces including an updated HIROSHIMA modular sofa and new open shelf by designer Naoto Fukasawa, a new Lightwood sofa by Jasper Morrison, and Shoto, a new table collection by Cecilie Manz that can be combined with sofas, chairs and a wide range of furniture.
