A Hint of Color

The EN Collection, the first collection born from the collaboration with Cecilie Manz and Maruni, is a testament to the seamless integration of Danish design sensibilities with Japanese woodworking excellence. The harmonious blend of these design philosophies and cultural influences is a tribute to the universal appeal and enduring beauty embedded in their creations.
This new project was born from the desire to create a round wooden table, paired with a chair, characterized by rounded motifs that gives a welcoming atmosphere.

As Cecilie Manz explains, “a round table gives rise to a certain atmosphere and a sense of ‘being together’ – simply by virtue of its circular shape. A table is such a vital piece of furniture: many situations in our everyday life unfold around a table: dining, playing, working, spending time with family and friends.”

The chair shares the same embracing design: the curved backrest reminds of the ancient Greek klismos chairs, and the legs characterized by a loop frame, give a sense of continuity creating a balanced soft-sharp appearance. Here the attention to a round and welcoming shape is paired with a high level of coziness, as Cecilie Manz says:

“I have tried to keep the chair modest in size and expression but still with character and good seating comfort.” The creative process behind the Maruni products designed by Cecilie Manz is a meticulous dance between color, materiality, and form.

Announcement

Maruni is proud to participate in the exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, marking the first major solo presentation of Naoto Fukasawa’s work in a U.S. museum.
Presenting fully-realized production designs alongside the studio’s working sketches and models for select projects, the exhibition will offer a rare opportunity to explore both Fukasawa’s design ethos—prizing an essential “fit” between objects, users, and their environments—and his creative process.
